The Olympic Mountains
There’s Something For Everyone in the Olympic Mountains
Located to the west of Seattle, Washington, nested close to the Pacific Ocean, sits the Olympic Mountain Range. With over 900,000 acres comprised of 3,000 miles of river, 60 named glaciers and several dozen trails, there is something for everyone, from the occasional day trip adventurer to the advanced wilderness buff.
Hiking Trails
With over 600 miles of hiking available from over 60 different trails, it can be very overwhelming task to figure out where to start.
Sol Duc Falls
For the beginner hiker, a good trail to try would be Sol Duc Falls. Located on the northwestern part of the Olympic National Park, this trail is just under 2 miles but is beautiful with the sun shining against the waterfalls.
The Gladys Divide
For those up for a bigger adventure, the Gladys Divide is a hidden treasure. At over 20 miles long, hikers will encounter various terrain but the views along the way are worth it (it opens to the Olympic inside). It is not a heavily populated trail most of the year so it's a touch of raw nature for lucky hikers. Just be prepared to do some climbing!
Water Features
Lake Crescent
Lake Crescent is a popular option due to its clarity and ever present beautiful blue color. Many people enjoy kayaking and boating activities on this lake. For land lovers, there is plenty of beach space to relax on.
For those who want a bit less of a strenuous activity than kayaking provides, fishing is a very popular option with locals and tourists alike. There are some restrictions on what fishers are allowed to keep so make sure to read up on any restrictions before heading out. (Fun fact: Washington state fishing licenses are not required unless fishing from the Pacific Ocean.)
As a bonus to our guests, Robin Hood Village Resort provides kayaks free of charge!
With so much to do, it's no wonder that almost 3.5 million people visited Olympic National Park and Mountain Range last year. Are you going to be included in that number this year? We’d love to see you soon at Robin Hood Village Resort!
